Eligibility Guidelines

The Center offers fellowships to dissertation students and assistant professors; release time to associate professors; grants to entering and other pre-dissertation graduate students; research stipends to undergraduates; grants to departments to support visiting scholars; and support to faculty for the development of research and curricular innovation.

The fellowships and grants of the Townsend Center are open to students, faculty, and departments of UC Berkeley.

Please note that individual faculty members will normally not receive funding under more than one Townsend Center research program per year.
