With continuing commitment to the success and diversity of intellectual events on campus, the Townsend Center provides various modes of publicity for events relating to the arts and humanities.
The Townsend Center online calendar of campus events is a part of the UC Berkeley Calendar Network. Click here to read event submission guidelines, and here to submit an event.
The print newsletter is published on a bi-monthly basis during the school year. Submission deadlines are usually a full month before the newsletter becomes available (for example, submissions for the April/May newsletter must be received by March 1). All events submitted to the online events calendar (see above) will be considered for inclusion in the print newsletter. In addition to uploading event photos on the events calendar, please send a high quality version of the photo to Please note that submitting an event does not necessarily guarantee inclusion into the print newsletter, although we will try to accommodate as many appropriate events as possible.
The Hum.Arts listserv is dedicated to promoting events in the arts and humanities to a broad Bay Area audience. To submit an event, email with the name of the event in the subject line and the announcement (with complete information and an event contact phone number or email) in the body of the email. No attachments please. The exact text of your email will be printed in the listserv email, so submit event information in the exact format in which you wish it to appear in the listserv. To receive the Hum.Arts emails yourself, sign up here.
The Townsend Center's eNewsletter is published every Monday morning, and is reserved for events hosted by the Townsend Center or Townsend Center Working Groups. If you wish to publicize a Working Group event in the eNewsletter, please submit your event to the Campus Events Calendar, including the name of your working group and noting the Townsend Center as a co-sponsor, and this will automatically submit your event for inclusion in the Townsend Center eNewsletter.
