A specialist in Roman sculpture, Christopher Hallett is professor of Classics and History of Art. He is the author of The Roman Nude: Heroic Portrait Statuary 200 B.C.–300 A.D., and a co-author of Aphrodisias II: Roman Portrait Statuary from Aphrodisias. Professor Hallett’s current book project focuses on literature and the visual arts in the triumviral and early Augustan period. In recent years he has taught graduate seminars on ancient painting, the Roman Villa, Hellenistic and Roman Egypt, and Roman Sarcophagi. He was awarded a Humboldt Fellowship to work at the Institut für klassische Archäologie in Munich, and he is the recipient of a Rome Prize from the American Academy.
