The Feminist Anthropologies Working Group aims to provide a space to discuss current and classic problems in feminist theoretical contributions in anthropology. It will explore the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and colonialism within anthropology. What does it mean to do feminist anthropology today? The working group will discuss the contributions of feminist theory in the discipline and practice of anthropology but also to think about what it means to apply feminist anthropology in contemporary ethnographic research. Feminist approaches to anthropology holds possibilities for challenging the colonial legacy that anthropology continues to carry by thinking of ways of decolonizing anthropology through critical intersectional feminist theory and methodology.
