Italian Roots and Branches: An Interdisciplinary Round Table
The Italian Roots and Branches Working Group brings together faculty and graduate students in rich, interdisciplinary discussions of the origins and adaptations of Italian literature film, art, music, and theater from the medieval period to today. The working group seeks to foster widespread interdepartmental collaboration among such research areas as art history, literatures and languages, history, music, philosophy, drama, religious studies, and more. The group will meet regularly to study the diverse intellectual and cultural networks that primarily Italian texts were both drawn from and incorporated into. With strong current research interests in Mediterranean Studies and ideas concerning social, political and economic exchange across cultures and continents expanding, the group also seeks to relate the literary and artistic achievements of the Italian Peninsula to other cultures and intellectual horizons.
