Anthony J. Cascardi, DirectorTony Cascardi is Professor in the Departments of Comparative Literature, Rhetoric, and Spanish and Portuguese; he received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1980 and is General Editor of the Penn State Studies in Literature and Philosophy. His research interests include: the relations between literature and philosophy; aesthetic theory; and early modern Europe. His recent publications are Consequences of Enlightenment and The Cambridge Companion to Cervantes.

Teresa Stojkov, Associate DirectorTeresa Stojkov has principal responsibility for the implementation of all current programs as well as long-range goals at the Townsend Center. She facilitates special initiatives set by the Director and serves as the Center’s liaison with individual faculty, groups, and departments engaged in humanities and humanities-related projects both on and off campus. Teresa’s Ph.D. is in Romance Languages and Literatures, and her scholarly work focuses mainly on Latin American poetry. Teresa has also been a Carnegie Fellow at the Graduate School of Journalism while at the Townsend Center.
Celeste Langan, Faculty Director of Programs Celeste Langan is Associate Professor in the Department of English and works in the fields of 19th-century British literature, poetry, media theory, and disability studies. She is currently working on a book-length project called Post-Napoleonism: Imagining Sovereignty After 1799. She is involved in a number of special programs at the Townsend Center and has primary responsibility for running the Discovery Fellows program, which brings together graduate students from a variety of disciplines in collaborative projects.
Ramona Naddaff, Faculty Director of the Project on Disciplinary InnovationRamona Naddaff is Associate Professor in the Rhetoric Department. She is the author of Exiling the Poets, series editor of the multi-volume anthology Postwar French Thought, and co-editor of Fragments for a History of the Human Body. She is currently working on nineteenth- and twentieth-century literary censorship trials. Editor of Zone Books, Professor Naddaff is also on the board of Bibliotheque sans frontieres (Libraries without Borders), a non-profit organization whose mission is to rebuild libraries in developing and disaster-stricken areas around the world.
Joshua Levenson, Financial CoordinatorJosh Levenson has been working at the Townsend Center as the Financial Manager since October of 2007. Josh is a Pacific Northwest native who attended the University of Washington. In his spare time he enjoys rock climbing, traveling, and documentary and independent films.

Julie Van Scoy joined the Townsend Center staff in July of 2008. She manages much of the day-to-day information that must flow through the Center, and has primary responsibility for the coordination of the Center's public events. Julie recently earned an M.A. in English from Colorado State University; her writing and research interests surround issues of travel, cultural exchange, and authenticity.
Angela Veomett, Web and Communications specialistAngela Veomett is the Web and Communications Specialist for the Townsend Center. Angela has primary responsibility for managing all aspects of the Townsend Center's communications and information programs, including print, electronic, and web communications. Angela received an MA in Media arts at the University of Michigan in 2006, and is interested in artwork that explores issues behind human communication, group dynamics, and how the physical world influences these ideas.
Bridgette Lehrer, Fellowships CoordinatorBridgette Lehrer is the Fellowships Coordinator for The Townsend Center. With a professional background in nonprofits and arts administration, she has a unique understanding of the importance of the humanities and grants funding. She earned a BA in Art History from Arizona State University and an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. In her spare time, Bridgette loves to spend time with her daughter and husband, explore art exhibits, teach pilates, and travel.
