Artist Claudia Hart in Conversation with Edmund Campion

Music at the Crossroads: Actions at the Intersection of Sound, Music, Art and Media
-
The Center for New Music & Audio Technologies, 1750 Arch St.

Claudia Hart is associate professor in the department of Film, Video, New Media and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is represented by Bitforms Gallery in New York. Hart is currently an honorary fellow at the Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology in NYC, where she will premiere The Alice’s Walking, created in collaboration of with composer Ed Campion, on March 8, 2014.

Hart and Campion met in the early nineties while they were both fellows at the American Center. Twenty years later, the two re-connected in New York and found an eerie relatedness in their distinct practices —his grounded in music composition and hers in post-media contemporary art.  In response, they began a collaborative practice that is as much about the nature of artistic influence and the tides of art and cultural history as it is about the process of creation.

This event is free and open to the public.

Presented by the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies and The Townsend Center for the Humanities.
