Craig Nagasawa’s paintings examine the complexities of departures, asking viewers to consider such questions as: “What do we experience when someone leaves this world; how can we visualize such moments? Is it possible to create a liminal space in a painting where we are suspended between memory and the present?” Nagasawa received his MFA from the University California, Davis in 1983, and has taught at Berkeley since 1994. He says, “Teaching at UC Berkeley is central to my life as an artist and educator. I love seeing students of all disciplines develop their visual intelligence and capacities for innovation.” For more information, visit the Braunstein/Quay Gallery website.
