A scholar of the visual arts of the United States, Lauren Kroiz focuses on political issues of citizenship and aesthetic questions of modernism from the 1880s to the 1940s.

Michele D'Aurizio studies the global histories of art, craft, and design of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. His dissertation examines artists' and other cultural practitioners’ responses to the emergence of the nationalist discourse of “Made in Italy” and its related modes of production.

Anneka Lenssen

2024-25

Anneka Lenssen studies the modern and contemporary art practices of the Arab world in the global frame of 20th-century colonial occupation and anti-colonial movements. Her current book project is a study of political mobilizations of ideas of "art for art alone" during the war years of the British reoccupation of Iraq (1942-1945).
