Marxist Institute for Research Summer Seminar

The Marxist Institute for Research has opened applications for its 2024 Summer Seminar for graduate students and UC community members. Held from August 23-27, 2024, the program features seminars with guest and core faculty.

This year's Institute includes:

• A seminar in Marxist pedagogy oriented around Capital Vol 1, led by a group of core faculty including Chris Chen, Joshua Clover, Colleen Lye, Wendy Matsumura, and Rob Nichols.

• A seminar led by Alberto Toscano and Brenna Bhandar on "So-Called Primitive Accumulation, or, Property as Warfare."

• The Mike Davis Lecture delivered by William Clare Roberts on ideology, unexercised power, and the continuity between political and economic struggles.

Eligibility

The Marxist Institute for Research is open to University of California graduate students and UC community members. 

The Townsend Center fully funds one student participant per year.

Grant Provision

A fully funded 5-day summer school held at Sagehen Creek Field Station near Truckee, CA.
