Kayla van Kooten is the social media manager for the Townsend Center. At UC Berkeley, she is a PhD student in the German Department with Designated Emphasis in New Media and Dutch Studies, focusing on multilingualism and translation in German and Dutch media. Kayla has several years of social media management experience for academic centers, journals, and brands, as well as experience in research on social media in her academic work. Before coming to UC Berkeley, she received her BA from the University of Washington in International Studies and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures.
