Legal Geography and Racial Capitalism
Group Coordinators
The Legal Geography and Racial Capitalism working group aims at exploring the intersection between legal and spatial practices, with a particular focus on relations of racial capitalism, settler colonialism, and empire across diverse geographies. Contemporary social challenges such as widespread evictions, border militarization, and climate change highlight the interconnections between legal ordering and spatial phenomena in shaping societal outcomes. In this context there is a growing need to understand the complex interplay between legal frameworks, social relations, and geographical landscapes.
