Sloane Nilsen studies the history of life at night in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Germany. His dissertation, "Nazi Nights: A Time of Fantasy and Catastrophe," explores the ways in which darkness shaped experiences of dictatorship between 1933 and 1939.
