The New Yugoslav Studies working group is dedicated to the study of Yugoslav political project, culture, and society from a comparative and transnational perspective. The “new” in our name refers to a shared methodological stance — namely, a refusal to accept the destruction of socialist Yugoslavia as the only lens through which its social, historical, and cultural significance ought to be viewed.
