The West Asian Majlis working group explores questions spanning three continents, multiple time periods, and an array of languages. We examine historical connections among the Islamicate empires of the Ottomans, Safavids, and Mughals, as well as interaction with European empires in the 19th and 20th centuries. We have a particular interest in questions of political economy and the press.
