Every aspiring academic author — and especially those hoping to publish in book form for the first time — is bound to have questions about how academic presses work. What are the protocols for submission? What tactics might best ensure that your manuscript will be considered? Who reviews for academic presses and what do they look for? Does length matter? What about subventions? Are there acceptable alternatives to academic publishing? How long does the process typically take? This online seminar is open to anyone interested in learning more about the world of academic publishing.

Anthony J. Cascardi served for ten years as Dean of Arts and Humanities at UC Berkeley, where he is the Sidney and Margaret Ancker Distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature, Rhetoric, and Spanish. He is the author of eight books, four edited collections, and more than 120 academic essays and reviews. He has served as academic editor for three different book series at major university presses in the US and UK.
